American Indian artists to autograph 2008 calendar

The 14th Annual Native American Art Calendar Signing and Show will showcase the work of 13 featured artists, several of whom will be in attendance to sign it, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Jacobson House Native Art Center, 609 Chautauqua in Norman.

Southwest Indian Arts and Native American Art Calendar Inc. owner Leslie Zinbi said the calendar offers people a chance to own top American Indian artists' works of art, which they otherwise might not be able to afford.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and visit with 13 of our state's most noted Native American artists," she said.

Zinbi said this year's calendar features a variety of artistic disciplines from artists of many different tribes.

"We have contemporary and traditional art to almost abstract "¦ from watercolor to oils," she said. "This year is the first year that we've had a mixed-media piece."

Calendar owners can get to know more about the artist and his or her painting by reading the biography and story that accompanies each month.

"Each artist brings something different to the table as far as their images go and the story that they tell," Zinbi said.

Admission is free, and calendars are $14.99 each. For more information, visit the site or call 329-4442.
