Annual 'Chocolate Decadence' benefits downtown

Pegged as one of Oklahoma City's most anticipated annual events, the Valentine's tradition "Chocolate Decadence 2008" will be held 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hudson-Essex Loft Office at 825 N. Broadway.

"Chocolate Decadence has evolved every year to sold-out capacity as a result of the unique and wonderful offerings by the finest chocolatiers in Oklahoma City. It's a romantic and exciting way to celebrate the evening with your valentine," said Meg Salyer, president of Accel Financial Staffing and co-chair of the event, in a press release.

As always, the party allows guests to sample delicious chocolate-based desserts from some of the metro's finest restaurants and catering companies. Wine, champagne and coffee help the sweets go down even sweeter, as does the aural accompaniment of smooth jazz music.

Other decadent items include those to be auctioned off, and one partygoer will leave with a bauble courtesy of sponsor Samuel Gordon Jewelers.

As much as attendees get out of "Chocolate Decadence," they also give, too, as proceeds from the event go toward improving downtown Oklahoma City, whether for neon signs, street furniture or other enhancements.

Tickets are $50, which must be purchased in advance. All guests must be 21 years of age or older. For more information, call 706-7484 or visit their site. "Rod Lott
