Oklahoma and 47 other states reached an agreement with Internet provider AOL concerning canceled paid subscriptions, according to a statement from the Oklahoma attorney general's office released Wednesday.

The states' attorneys general alleged AOL was intentionally making it difficult for customers to cancel their service by requiring all cancellations be made by phone. The settlement allows for cancellations to be made over the Internet.

AOL also will pay $3 million to the states due to unauthorized charges. Oklahoma will receive $45,000 from the settlement.
