Reviewers' grade: D
An animated movie about talking food items, robots and weird space creatures shouldn't be this boring, but the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" doesn't work on the screen remotely as well as it does on cable television. The film follows the adventures of Frylock, Master Shake and their little- pile-of-meat cohort, Meatwad, as they try to subdue a piece of fitness equipment turned robotic kill machine.
Of course this makes no sense whatsoever, which is what makes the 15-minute television show amusing ... and the movie unbearable. Writer/directors Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, who also voice some of the characters, create senseless comedy which seems to work only in small doses.
The film starts on a high note, with a metal song warning moviegoers to shut up during the film or they will succumb to being cut up with a linoleum knife. Vocal cameos by "Saturday Night Live"'s Tina Fey and legendary Rush drummer Neal Peart do nothing to make this movie worth seeing. R
