"Palimpsests, a layering of lines and imagery, have become a new way for me to represent myself and my interactions with the world," Calli Heflin said. "'Intermingling' is part of a series of horses layered over one another in charcoal, gesso, and oil paint. The horses are layered to show the relations they have between each other and to abstract their forms."
