Artists tour OKC for beautification project

For a proposed public art project on N. Lincoln Boulevard next to the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, the Oklahoma Health Center invited five nationally known artists to tour the area to help spur ideas.

Of the 50 artists from the U.S. and Canada who submitted proposals of interest, selected finalists were:
" Ray King,
" Barbara Grygutis,
" Scott Murase and
" the team of Shan Shan Sheng and Mark Dziewulski.

The artists toured July 16. By Oct. 15, they five will submit their model, project narrative and estimated costs for the project.

Funding for the project comes from the 2006-2008 Treasures for Tomorrow events, sponsored by both the Oklahoma Health Center Foundation and DMEI. The events pay tribute to Oklahomans whose courage and inspiring action serve as a model for the rest of society.

In eight years, this event has allowed for the creation of:
" Live Oak Grove,
" the Jimmy Everest Garden Walk and
" Founders Plaza at Stiles Park.
