Up the ante for a worthwhile cause at the second annual Casino Florale
to benefit OKC Beautiful
, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the
appearance of Oklahoma City.

The Shoppes at Northpark will transform into a lively casino with an array of exciting games for Lady Luck. Test your good fortune at blackjack or Texas Hold ’Em, spin the roulette wheel or give the slot machines a few pulls.

Winnings provide a chance to enter a host of donated raffles items. Packages include a week-long stay at a Crested Butte, Colo., cabin, a catered chef’s dinner for eight and a piece of furniture from Norwalk Furniture & Design.

Whether the odds end up in your favor, the night will be a jackpot for hungry tummies with some of the city’s best food wizards — including Kam’s Kookery, Guilford Gardens, In the Raw and Cupcake Heaven.

Rococo Restaurants chef and owner Bruce Rinehart donated several of his signature hors d’oeuvres. One of the planned treats is a “cookie” delicately topped with salmon, goat cheese, capers and red onion. He predicts a surprise or two, as well.

“It’s always great to get out of the box and blend food to have a nice sampling,” said Rinehart.

More importantly, the creative cook is a strong ally of all things community. He is a longtime OKC Beautiful supporter.

“Donations are a fun way to support charity movements,” he said. “[OKC Beautiful] does great work around the city.”

Along with fine food, guests can enjoy beer donated by Mustang Brewing Company, specialty cocktails courtesy American Harvest Organic Spirit and wine.

The gala is a zero-landfill event.

Compostable materials and bins for recyclables will be provided. Closer to Earth Youth Gardens will use the compost in its garden.

“We don’t want our events to add a pile to the landfill,” said Lisa Synar, OKC Beautiful’s executive director.

“We want to live our mission in all we do, even when we’re raising money to do it.”
