The University of Central Oklahoma juried student art show
ArtzPlace Oklahoma,1730 Center Drive, Midwest City
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday
Saturday is the last day to check out an exhibit of student work hosted by ArtzPlace Oklahoma: the University of Central Oklahoma juried student art show, which includes 2-D, mixed-media works.
The works were selected and juried by Deborah Myers, a UCO instructor, and Jessica Schnebel, an artist and teacher at Casady School.
Nancy Nortz, ArtzPlace director, said the exhibit is beneficial to art students and Oklahoma residents alike.
"It's a nice example of the type of the art that can be done by high-level art students," she said. "ArtzPlace gives them a place to exhibit off of their immediate campus. This is a nice diversion from that, and (the gallery) is out of Edmond, so it gives Eastern Oklahoma County residents a chance to see this art."
The show was organized by the UCO Student Art Association, which promotes members' works together to increase the opportunity for its members, while giving back to the community through volunteer activism.
ArtzPlace Oklahoma is located at 1730 Center Drive in Midwest City, and gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For more information, call 732-4278 or visit www.artzplaceok.com. "?Luke Atkinson
