This feature version of a popular Brazilian television series is set in the favelas "? the hillside slums "? of Rio de Janeiro. It follows the adventures of two fatherless 18-year old young men as they learn what being a father is all about.
Ace (Douglas Silva) is a dad himself, even though he realizes that he's a lousy one. His best bud (Darlan Cunha) is searching for the father he never knew. Add to these problems Ace's wife leaving him and their toddler son and the warfare between rival gangs that breaks out on the hill where the boys live and the complications"?and coincidences"?pile up in a hurry.
"City of Men" is in with subtitles. It's not at all bad, but it isn't for everybody. R
