Before titans clash in theaters in 3-D next month, bone up on your Greek mythology with "Clash of the Gods." The sound-alike series is a History Channel presentation that's fun for the entire family.
Each of the three-disc set's nine episodes spend nearly an hour on a mythological character, from Zeus to Odysseus, focusing on the fact behind the fiction (when available). Various experts are interviewed in standing, talking-head fashion, but it's the period recreations that give the show life. They're exceedingly slick and action-packed.
For best examples, watch Hercules battle the Hyrda, or the Minotaur stalk his prey in the deadly labyrinth, or the story of Beowulf played out without the excess of Robert Zemeckis. These are among the show's strongest hours. "?Rod Lott
