The talk will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Oklahoma City University in the Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel on N.W. 23rd between Blackwelder and Kentucky avenues.
The discussion will include speakers such as state a state climatologist, an expert in sustainable development, the dean of OCU’s College of Arts and Sciences., and Sen. Andrew Rice (pictured). Each panelist will have 15 minutes to speak, followed by an open dialogue between them and the audience.
“The subject itself is complicated enough as it is, and it looks different from different perspectives,” said Ted Metzler, director of sponsoring program, Oklahoma Interfaith Power and Light.
Speaker Renee McPherson, a state climatologist from the University of Oklahoma, will address the definition of climate change. She then will question how much humans are responsible.
The other panelists will be free to discuss what they wish to in regard to the subject.
Metzler said in light of the Keystone Pipeline debate, Rice will talk about the political implications of global climate change.
“I feel that one of the first steps we need to address is get some dialogue going to replace this polarization,” Metzler said.
