Colin Powell to address OU campus

Having served as an Army general, the United States secretary of state, the national security adviser and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one would expect Colin Powell to know a little something about "The Challenges Facing America."

Powell will share his thoughts on that topic in a 4 p.m. address today at the Paul F. Sharp Concert Hall in Catlett Music Center, 500 W. Boyd, on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman.

Although the event is primarily for OU students, faculty and staff, overflow seating will be made available to the public.

"We're honored to welcome Gen. Powell to our campus," said David L. Boren, OU president, in a press release. "He is admired not only as a public servant, but also because of his work as a civic volunteer in reaching out to help others. His wide personal experience at the highest levels of our government gives him a unique perspective about the greatest challenges which our country faces in the years ahead."
