Council members plan to run again

Oklahoma City council members Pete White and Ronald "Skip" Kelly announced they intend to seek re-election to the City Council March 3.

White was appointed to the council in 2005 after former council member Brent Rinehart was elected to the Oklahoma County Commission. He was elected to a full four-year term a few months later.

Kelly was elected to the council in Dec. 2007 to fill the unexpired term of Willa Johnson who left after winning a seat with the Oklahoma County Commission.

While born in Blackwell, White has spent most of his life as an Oklahoma City resident. He attended Lafayette Elementary School and graduated from Southeast High School in 1956. White is a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve where he served as a military police officer before finishing college at Central State University, now University of Central Oklahoma. He graduated from law school at Oklahoma City University and currently holds a private practice.

White was first elected to the City Council in 1982 to fill the remainder of the term vacated by the previous councilman. He was re-elected in 1985 to a full four-year term.

Kelly, an Oklahoma City attorney also in private practice, graduated from Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma City University College of Law. He has served on the staff of the Oklahoma State Senate, as a college professor and as a probation and parole officer. "Scott Cooper
