There's nothing like spicing up what could have been an otherwise fairly dull public meeting with some angry citizen input.
A group of concerned citizens knew what the real intentions were when the Edmond City Council held a sustainability forum on Dec. 6 " nothing short of global domination by the United Nations. This reaction came despite assurances from Shannon Entz, a community developer quoted in an Edmond Sun article, that the meeting was about "saving money, saving energy, reducing waste."
A flyer titled "Why Edmond is concerned about U.N. Agenda 21/sustainable development" was passed out to people entering the meeting, the Sun reported, and included such revelations as "U.N. Agenda 21 is a 1,000-plus page, 40-chapter document spelling out how all activities on the planet, including in the USA, are to be brought under the control of the United Nations."
But that's not all. When city organizers asked the 200-plus people at the meeting to break into small groups to discuss ways to improve sustainability, one man retorted that the small-group plan was an attempt to control what was being said, the Sun reported, while others wanted to talk about the roots of the term "sustainability" in U.N. Agenda 21.
Entz tried to pull the conversation back home, but to no avail.
"We don't even know what you're talking about with Agenda 21," Entz was quoted as saying. "This isn't part of our conversation at all. It's absolutely not. We're not part of that; we're not interested in that."
Eventually, the meeting was cut short, the Sun reported. It ended before comments veered headlong into the Gen. Jack D. Ripper territory of tinfoil hats, black helicopters and our "precious bodily fluids." Whenever CFN intern Bucky sniffs out a socialist, Marxist, fascist, communist, kitten-hating plot, he just singles out the "preverts."
