Inspiration for "American Falls" came from Frederic Church's 19th-century painting "Niagara" and from WPA murals of the Thirties, Solomon said.
Also on exhibit at Untitled [ArtSpace] are colorful large-scale prints from collage and printmaking artist Robert Rauschenberg's "Soviet/American Array." Like Solomon's work, Rauschenberg's uses images to explore American identity. Both use collage to create conversation between images within each work.
Solomon's 30-minute, looped installation at Untitled [ArtSpace] is a preview of a larger video installation he is creating for the rotunda at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., which debuts in autumn 2009.
