Flaming Lips to headline New Year's Eve concert downtown

Break out the glitter and silver confetti, because Oklahoma City will say goodbye to 2007 and celebrate the new year with The Flaming Lips.

 

OKC's three-time Grammy- winning psychedelic band will take the stage at 7 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Cox Convention Center as part of the Arts Council of Oklahoma City's annual Opening Night event, according to a statement from event organizers.

 

Tickets for the concert must be purchased separately from Opening Night wristbands, which much be purchased for access to other concerts and events that night in downtown Oklahoma City and Bricktown.

Opening Night, which features activities at 14 different locations and performances from more than 50 artists, starts at 7 p.m. and ends with a live countdown and fireworks at midnight, organizers said.

 

Wristbands are $8 in advance and go on sale Nov. 23 at metro Homelands, MidFirst Banks, Mathis Brothers and Penn Square Mall.
