A former Baptist minister was acquitted of allegedly propositioning an undercover male police officer, The Associated Press reported.

An outspoken critic of same-sex marriage, Lonnie Latham, 61, was found not guilty March 7 of the misdemeanor charge of offering to engage in an act of lewdness, stemming from his Jan. 3 arrest outside an Oklahoma City hotel.

Police accused Latham of asking an undercover officer for oral sex, which he denied.

Latham was a pastor of the South Tulsa Baptist Church and on the board of directors of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, but resigned both posts after his arrest.

Latham's attorney told the AP his client was "ecstatic" that the Oklahoma County special judge found him not guilty, and said he was not bitter about the case.
