This month, Frontier City offers more than just log rides and roller coasters, and you'll want to bring a friend to hold on to for this ghastly tradition. FrightFest begins Friday with Halloween-themed rides, shows and attractions, and 20,000 pieces of candy for kids.
Located at 11501 N.E. Expressway, the theme park is debuting a new haunted house this year, along with more hay bales, pumpkins, monsters and creatures than ever before.
FrightFest is a big seasonal attraction at the Frontier City, and every year, the shows and attractions continue to grow, said the the park's general manager, Stephen Ball.
"The cooler weather and the live entertainment make it very enjoyable," he said.
BOOVILLE
The park's BooVille allows kids under 12 to trick-or-treat in their costumes with friendly goblins, collecting candy as they visit booths themed after classic movies. In KiddieLand, children can also walk away with a temporary tattoo and a freshly picked pumpkin.
Also assembled for FrightFest is the Hal & Scream Dance Party Extreme, which includes a dance contest and music event, and Dead Man's Party, a rock 'n' roll concert hosted by the park's own Dr. Fright.
Families who might rather sit and celebrate the season can take in illusions, dance, comedy and music at "Magic of the Night" or "Proctor's Revenge at Crack Axle Canyon," a staged gunfight stunt show where the Old West ghosts exact revenge on one another. The gunfight is the only Halloween expedition where the park asks parents to leave children in KiddieLand.
RottsVille Asylum, presented by the House of Screams, is the new, 30-room haunted house with ghouls and monsters. Park officials warned that it might be too scary for children under 12.
FrightFest runs through Halloween night.
