The University of Oklahoma welcomes the printmaking duo Satan’s Camaro for a three-week exhibit, “Medieval Techno Show.”

The brainchild of East Coast university art professors Justin Strom and Lenore Thomas, the prints are on display through Oct. 21 in OU’s Lightwell Gallery in the Fred Jones Art Center, 520 Parrington Oval in Norman.

Both artists are assistant professors of printmaking at East Coast universities. Bringing in the work of out-of-state talent is a great way for OU art students to learn, according to Jessica Upson, staff assistant at the OU School of Art and Art History.

“It will definitely give them a chance to see established artists,” she said.

“We try to switch it up. Every year, we have a few outside artists that come in ... just to keep things interesting.”

Pop culture has a big influence on Satan’s Camaro, whose two members usually look to music, vintage cars and art for ideas. In “Medieval Techno Show,” they’ve combined their styles to create work with the theme of opposites, which their website coins as “Slayer meets Stereolab, ‘Halo’ meets ‘Super Mario Brothers’ and Skeletor meets My Little Pony.”

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Admission is free. For more information, call 325-7370 or visit art.ou.edu. —Carmen Forman
