Although theyve often abandoned traditional music-delivery methods for more unique ones, The Flaming Lips do, in fact, have albums. And on Record Store Day, April 16, Oklahomas most famous weirdos will reissue a decades worth of records on actual vinyl, in a box set titled Heady Nuggs: The First 5 Warner Bros. Records 1992-2002.
Including 1992s Hit to Death in the Future Head, 1993s Transmissions from the Satellite Heart, 1995s Clouds Taste Metallic, 1999s The Soft Bulletin and 2002s Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, the individually numbered collection will be available at both Guestroom Records locations for $125.
And you thought it was already as heavy as could be.
Each of the albums, except Bulletin, has been unavailable on vinyl for almost 10 years, so for those who have come late to the Lips party (or vinyl itself), nows the time to snap these up. If the Lips arent your favorite (or you dont have a buck and a quarter lying around), Guestroom has more than 200 of the other exclusive, limited-edition Record Store Day releases ordered.
Both locations will feature bands playing in-store: at the 3701 N. Western location during the day and the Normans 125 E. Main location in the evening. Wayne Coyne, however, is not scheduled to roll his hamster ball through either. Stephen Carradini
