Among the notable names and faces that graced the venue: famed music critic Jim DeRogatis, drummer Martin Atkins (of the legendary band Public Image Ltd.), Thomas Conner of the Chicago Sun-Times, Bill Pearis of the dangerously hip website BrooklynVegan and Nathan Poppe, Oklahoma State University senior and Look at OKC contributor.

During Stillwater-based Colourmusic’s set, Poppe ended up onstage, dancing and singing. Pearis picks up the story from there: “Some crazed (drunk) superfan from their hometown jumps on stage, takes off his shirt and joins the band on the mic, making for the best picture I took all week.”

Poppe, in response, tweeted, “I was sober. They need to beef up their reporting efforts.”

Poppe 1, NYC hipsters 0.

Conner,
a University of Oklahoma and Heritage Hall grad, captured the mood of
the story better: “One fan was moved enough to tear off his shirt, jump
on stage and dance ecstatically for all to see.”

Colourmusic
lead singer Ryan Hendrix extolled the virtues of Poppe’s venture,
saying, “I think you should all take your shirts off and rub each
other.” Awesome.
