Hinder earns BMI award for Song of the Year

It wasn't your imagination: The ballad "Lips of an Angel" was officially on the radio all the time in 2007.

The song earned Oklahoma City rock band Hinder accolades for Song of the Year at the BMI's 56th Annual Pop Awards held May 20 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"Lips of an Angel" received more airtime than any song on BMI's most-performed song list, according to a statement from the organization. Even a cover version of the tune recorded and performed by country crooner Jack Ingram made its way to the Top 20 tier of Billboard's Hot Country Singles Chart.

Hinder's ballad also earned an award for Internet Song of the Year for being the "most performed song on the Internet" in the 2007 awards season. "Joe Wertz
