“We have an obligation to protect our citizens and to make sure a life-altering abortion is held to the highest medical standards,” Pruitt said in a written statement.

The lead plaintiff in challenging the ultrasound law, Nova Health Systems, was represented by the New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights.

“This last-ditch effort shows a continuing hostility to the women of Oklahoma,” said Bebe
Anderson, director of U.S. legal programs for the center. “It really
forces information on women, whether they want it or not, which is
really demeaning to them,” she said.

This marks Pruitt’s second appeal of the state court’s rejection of an abortion-related measure.
