The Performing Arts Studio will display amateur and professional photos of outstanding front doors throughout the city of Norman as part of its "Doors of Norman" photo competition.
Twelve of the best photos will be announced at an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, and will remain on display through July 29 at the Performing Arts Studio Gallery, located in the Norman Depot, 200 S. Jones.
"We are celebrating 100 years of architecture in Norman, starting at the front door," said David Boeck, an architect and Doors of Norman chair. "We (were) looking for photographs of beautiful, interesting and unique doors."
Contestants could photograph doors of private residences or commercial or public buildings for the competition in black-and-white or color. Exhibition visitors can vote on their favorite of these photos for the Public Choice Award.
The winning images will be combined on a full-size Doors of Norman poster, which will be sold to benefit the Performing Arts Studio, a nonprofit organization that supports fine arts programs in the Norman community.
