    Re: “Cover: No smoke
As a registered nurse who has never used marijuana or smoked any substance, I have observed the horrific effects of cancer and the attempts to prolong the lives of its victims.. As such, I am distressed at the disappointment of cancer patients who had hoped for some relief of the nightmare of their disease and its treatment from legalized medical marijuana.
The recriminalization of smokable marijuana and the attempt to control amounts of the effective property of the smokable product, THC, is a power grab of potentially fatal proportions.
The actions of established health centers and self appointed authorities of unknown credentials out to protect their patient load and resultant profit by altering the law and requiring pharmacists at the sale of a plant will accomplish nothin more than the maintenance of exorbitant medical costs.
Of course, most of the changes are an outright attack on the will of the people and an attempt to circumvent a law that enjoyed overwhelming approval by Oklahomans.
The most egregious of proposed changes is the recriminalization of smokable marijuana and limits on its THC level. For most patients, only marijuana of higher THC content is effective in treating the acute nausea and pain that accompanies many malignancies and the therapies used to prolong the life of acute cancer patients. And oral administration is essentially impossible due to persistent vomiting.
To excuse the prohibition of smokable marijuana on the basis of "protecting the public from the hazards of smoking" could be the most tragic and fatal joke of all for patients dying from cancer. The smoking excuse is especially infuriating for patients who have never smoked cigarettes that are legally unchallenged and easily available yet are known to contain hundreds of harmful and addictive substances. Cigarettes are the real gateway drug.
The Individuals who approved this ridiculous attempt to reverse the will of the people and endanger cancer patient lives should be immediately dismissed from the board and the law unchanged as approved by the people should be immediately put into effect before even one life can be lost to a power play making us the laughing stock of the country..
