“Shine On!” will show kids and their parents how to build simple circuits using LED lights, which they then will turn into an accessory that can be worn, said Laura Vaughn, education officer for the museum.

“The workshop is very hands-on and allows the kids to get up-close and personal with science,” she said. “I think the coolest thing is that after they make something, they actually get to wear it around.”

In addition to the educational portion of the workshop, pizza and drinks will be served for dinner.
“It’s a fun activity that parents and kids can experience together,” Vaughn said. “Kids get to learn something and eat dinner at the same time. It’s like a one-stop shop.”

From 6 to 8:30 p.m., the “Shine On!” workshop is designed for children ages 5 and up, and requires pre-registration that costs $12. For more information, call 325-1008 or visit snomnh.ou.edu. —Courtney Silva
