In a recent feature on the making of Last Mile Home, the bands contribution to the film, the Grammy-winning alt-rockers detailed the songs inspiration.
Weve been offered movies that theyve spent $300 million to make. Weve said no to it, just because we had no connection to the movie, bassist Jared Followill told The Huffington Post. We had a really strong connection to this one.
What kind of connection? Funny you ask, because its mainly football. Yep, football.
The band has never shied from its undying love
for Sooner sports; drummer Nathan Followill even dons the OU logo on
his drum kit when performing live and has been known to flash the
horns-down hand sign from time to time.
So

just say their hearts were crushed in three yards and a cloud of dust.
We knew it was the movie for us, said guitarist Matthew Followill.
