"While some people may find art itself as intimidating and pretentious, Lafon's work is satirical, narrative and, above all, humanistic," Stone said.
Born and raised in Utah, Lafon received a bachelor's and master's of fine arts from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and worked as an illustrator and art educator before being art department chair at Oklahoma's East Central University for 20 years.
He has served as visual arts director for the Oklahoma Arts Institute, and is a recognized figure in many prominent museums, galleries and public collections, including:
" the state art collections of Oklahoma and Utah,
" the Springfield Art Museum and
" the Oklahoma City Art Museum.
