Library celebrates \"Star Wars\" anniversary

On Wednesday, the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library celebrates the 30th anniversary of one of the most successful and influential films ever made: "Star Wars."

Refreshments will be served prior to the 5 p.m. screening in the library's auditorium. Attendees are welcome to show up dressed as their favorite character, as members of the Oklahoma City-based "Star Wars" fan club, JediOKC, will be there in costume.

Kimberly Edwards, young-adult librarian, said the film's enduring popularity is "because it is the ultimate good versus evil story. It has a quest, it has friendships " that's the kind of stuff people like to see in a movie. It's one of my all-time favorite movies."

The Downtown Library is located at 300 Park Ave. Admission is free, but preregistration is required. To register or for more information, call 606-3879. "Rod Lott
