A vegan food truck — The Loaded Bowl — was recently named Oklahoma Food Truck of the Year by attendees of the popular H&8th Night Market 2014 season.

“This year the award was for bragging rights only, but we’re going to let people exercise their right to vote for their favorite food truck every year moving forward, with escalating rewards for the winner,” said event manager Brian Bergman in a media release.

The truck debuted in August 2013 serves what it calls affordable, “conscious comfort food,” and serves its menu through its truck, meal planning and catering, its website shows. Popular menu items include vegan lasagna and cashew mac and cheese.

The H&8th season ended on Oct. 31, and is often called the largest food truck festival in the nation. More than 50 trucks from across the state participated this year, and the events, held the last Friday of each month through October, averaged between 20-35,000 attendees per month, organizers said.

More than 150 votes were cast for this year’s winner. Runner-up is family-owned Halls Pizza Kitchen, which lost by one vote.

The free, non-profit event features live music, street performers and will start again in March of 2015.
