Local blues act slated for TV appearance

Oklahoma City alt-blues rock outfit Blake Lankford and the Coats will be making a TV appearance at 10 p.m. Sunday during KOKH-TV Channel 25's evening sports show, "The Locker Room."

The band plays regularly in the metro at places like:
" Route 66 Road House,
" The Office Club and
" Drinkz in Bricktown.

According to its Web site, the group, led by guitarist and vocalist Blake Lankford, mixes covers with his original songs.

Its latest CD, "Hearts Don't Have Glue," is a mix of laid-back, jam-inspired acoustic songs along the lines of college radio hits by Jack Johnson or Ben Harper. The 11-track album is an upbeat collection of songs, including the driving "Gold Guitar," with soaring vocals by Lankford. "I Want You" is quirkier, with background vocals, a bluesy guitar and a hi-hat shuffle.

"Hearts Don't Have Glue" is a melodic and cheery album filled with great guitar and vocal work that would appeal to any fan of college radio or alt-acoustic rock. "Joe Wertz
