Thank you for your meaningful article on the health benefits of breast-feeding (Malena Lott, "Breast is best," April 21, 2010, Gazette). You are right in line with the Healthy People 2020 by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control. This article will reach many of our high-risk young women who have at-risk newborns for various reasons and end up in the neonatal intensive care unit. Your article will also be a support to those of us in health care who are working to educate and inform the populations we serve on various wellness issues for the next generation.
