Guthrie is one of only five cities in the world — three in the United States — that will host the tour.
The mini-festival will span two nights, with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros performing Friday, Sept. 6. Other confirmed featured guests are Alabama Shakes, The Vaccines, Willy Mason, Bear's Den and Half Moon Run, with more to be announced.
Mumford & Sons guitarist Winston Marshall told Oklahoma Gazette today that the event will have a celebratory, communal feel.
"The goal is to bring people together to celebrate a specific town through music," Marshall said. "It's to bring people to somewhere they'd not been before to celebrate all the things we love. … We love places we've never been to before. Your country, for example, is fucking mental and we love it."
He added that he especially looks forward to his first trip to the Sooner State.
"People are more openly enthusiastic [in America]. I think generally there's less cynicism in your country. Also, people are prepared to travel. That's an American thing, I think," Marshall said. “Guthrie, specifically, is a town that lots of musicians rave about. They're like, 'It's fucking awesome; it's mental,' and that's why we want to go there. That's why we love touring."
