OKC Council to consider Wanda Jackson Way

The Flaming Lips may not be the only local musical giant to have an alley named in its honor, should the Oklahoma City Council get its way.

According to an Associated Press report, "Queen of Rockabilly" Wanda Jackson could be next! The council has proposed renaming a Bricktown street running parallel to the canal as "Wanda Jackson Way." It comes to a vote July 21.

Seeing as how Jackson is not known for uttering the F word or wearing Communist symbols to the Capitol, opposition to the honor is not expected. CFN readers may recall Flaming Lips Alley catching heat, notably from Theresa Hickman, who suggested " seriously " Color Me Badd might be "more worthy" of a street naming, according to The Oklahoman.

If the council casts a vote in Jackson's favor, her best-known hit, "Let's Have a Party," could serve as a soundtrack for the sure-to-be-joyous inauguration. (And, given that it's an alley, inebriated celebrants won't have to walk far to puke.)
