Naturalists at the Oklahoma City Zoo are inviting kids to come watch as beasts transform into beauties at 2 p.m. Saturday.

"Beauty and the Beast" is focused on metamorphosis, said Oklahoma City Zoo spokeswoman Candace Rennels. Attendees will spend the afternoon with naturalists who will teach kids and families about the dramatic cycles that shape and change animals throughout their lives.

"Families will have an opportunity to see one or two 'beauties and beasts' of the animal kingdom up close and personal," Rennels said.  The themed activity includes crafts for participating children, who will enjoy a light snack before watching the transformation of the special animals.

The class is open to children of all ages, who must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $15 for ZooFriends members and $20 for nonmembers; accompanying adults are free. Reservations are required and may be made online at http://okczoo.recware.com. For more information, call 425-0218. "LeighAnne Manwarren
