Oklahoma bands, performers shut out at SXSW

Oklahoma bands and performers were absent from a list of more than 130 acts chosen for official performances at the 2009 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Festival organizers vetted more than 10,000 applications for the March 18-22 festival and released a "first round" list of performers on Jan. 8. No Oklahoma-based bands or performers were named.

UPDATE: An updated list of festival performers names seven Central Oklahoma bands slated to perform at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas.

Oklahoma City rockers The City Lives, Crocodile, The Uglysuit and Stardeath and White Dwarfs will join Stillwater rock acts Other Lives, Colourmusic and Shawnee- based folk outfit Samantha Crain & The Midnight Shivers as official selections for the March 18- 22 festival. "Joe Wertz
