Oklahoma City Home & Garden Show to host celebrities

More than 400 exhibitors, vendors and experts come together this weekend for the Oklahoma City Home & Garden Show, a three-day showcase of products and services for local homeowners, remodelers and renovators.

From Friday to Sunday, the event will fill five buildings at State Fair Park, 333 Gordon Cooper, said spokeswoman Kinsey Crocker. A rotating cast of experts will give demonstrations and presentations from stages set up in the Cox Pavillion and Modern Living Building.

Summer Baltzer of HGTV's "Design on a Dime" and "Unhinged" will lead Saturday and Sunday seminars on outfitting, styling and arranging "great" rooms, while "JunkMaster"
Sue Whitney will teach visitors how to refresh their yards and homes with thrifty finds. Other experts will share home-repair advice, impart energy saving tips and teach beginners how to use tools.

Crocker said TLC and Absolute Lawn Management & Landscaping are flying in 1,000 tulips for a large-scale indoor garden that visitors can walk through.

"It'll be a really neat contrast to what's going on outside," she said. "Inside, it'll be spring with blooming flowers and the tallest waterfall the show has ever had."

A silent auction featuring 20 doors painted and designed by area schools and local artists will benefit Habitat for Humanity, Crocker said, including one autographed by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The show is open noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. For more information, visit www.oklahomacityhomeshow.com. "Joe Wertz
