Oklahoma football fan faces day in court

Whatever happened to that Oklahoma football fan accused of tearing the scrotum of the guy wearing a Longhorns shirt?

The Associated Press reports Allen Michael Beckett, a 53-year-old Sooner fan, will appear in court Oct. 4 " only days before the Red River Rivalry between the Sooners and the Longhorns. Beckett, a federal auditor, church deacon and former Army combat veteran, faces aggravated assault charges that could lead to a maximum of five years in prison.

Brian Christopher Thomas, a 32-year-old UT fan, received trash talkin' from Beckett June 17 for wearing the 'Horns logo at a Henry Hudsons Pub in Oklahoma City, according to police. Thomas told police Beckett grabbed his crotch and wouldn't let go.

"He could see both of his testicles hanging on the outside of his body," Thomas' attorney, Carl Hughes, told AP. "He was wearing a pair of white shorts, which made it that much worse."

More than 60 stitches later, Thomas reportedly is recovering and has returned to his meat-cutting gig at a Sam's Club.

Billy Bock, Beckett's lawyer, claims his client remarked about the Longhorn shirt but apologized for the good-natured ribbing. Bock said Thomas later threatened his client at the bar, according to AP.

"My client is a little man, and this guy (Thomas) is 30 to 40 pounds bigger than him," Bock told AP. "He's bigger, stronger, younger and probably faster, and he aggressively leaned in and touched my client and threatened to beat him up. "¦ My guy was defending himself and just took control of the situation."

The victim's attorney disagrees.
