14-17, the state will transform the bar Friends into Oklahomas Buffalo
Lounge for four days of film, interactive and music events.
The Oklahoma film party, Red Dirt Reel, will be held on Monday, March 14, to showcase Oklahomas financial and artistic benefits to to SXSW Film attendees. Oklahomas first interactive event at SXSW, OpenBeta 6, will feature more than a dozen state-related companies giving talks.
Tuesday through Thursday, March 15-17, spotlights Oklahomas diverse music scene. The official showcase will feature metro-area artists Graham Colton, Broncho, Colourmusic, Pretty Black Chains and the Boom Bang, as well as Tulsas OK Sweetheart.
Other shows will feature central Oklahoma bands such as:
Rainbows Are Free,
Kite Flying Robot and more.
Mustang-based Tate Music Group also will present a showcase.
Oklahoma has seen significant growth in all three of these emerging industries in recent years, said Jill Simpson, director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office. This year, we would like to maximize Oklahomas presence at the festival by bringing together a variety of companies and performers from across the state at one shared venue.
