With nominations for the 50th annual Grammy Awards announced recently, several Oklahomans found their names on the list.
Vince Gill's four-disc "These Days" is up for Album of the Year. Although he faces stiff competition from Kanye West, Amy Winehouse and Foo Fighters, CFN intern Bucky " an ace Grammy predictor since the days of Ricky Martin " thinks Gill could take the award home, so long as voters aren't tainted by the stench of "Oklahoma Rising."
"American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood is nominated in two categories, including best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Before He Cheats." Underwood is so cute, we believe she could score a nod for covering the Paul Meade Insurance jingle.
Reba McEntire is vocal-nominated for a duet she did with another "American Idol" victor, Kelly Clarkson. As much as CFN likes to support its own, we're hoping McEntire has to stay in her seat, simply as karmic payback for making us hear her endless radio-spot pleas to buy a couple of Christmas CDs at Dillard's. (Yeah, yeah, we know they're for a good cause, but our gag reflex has a limit even at this time of year.)
But leave it to Hinder to sweep the nominations with " OK, you got us. We love to kid.
