Open House

com/e/ir?t=oklahgazet-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B003LR5BDK" />" is a decent little thriller "? a slasher by way of HGTV. You may have blind-buyer's remorse, but its 88 minutes is certainly befitting of an overnight rental. With few characters and essentially one setting, Paquin's piece could almost be a play, and he stages it well; the contemporary, upscale home looks like Architectural Digest porn. His script, however, is about half of one, full of unnatural pauses, unwelcome moments of reflection, and general plot lag, as if playing on slow speed. Helfer seems not to care, giving it her drop-dead-sexy all. I'd fall for it.

Ironically, the film's biggest selling point is the front-and-center appearance of "True Blood" stars/real-life lovers Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin (the director's sister). Sookie Stackhouse fans will enjoy seeing them onscreen "? although not together "? but let's just say this: Drew Barrymore in "Scream." Got it? Good. "?Rod Lott
