Brent Learned's "Moments in Time on the Plains" exhibit colorfully depicts Plains Indian life, and is on display at the Gold Dome, 1112 N.W. 23rd.
An Oklahoma native, Learned will be in attendance between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday.
"I like his work because the colors are very strong, but yet they blend in well," said Irene Lam, member of the Gold Dome Multicultural Society.
In addition to his paintings, Learned also has gained renown for his drawing and sculptures. His work has been displayed across the country, including the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
The Gold Dome Multicultural Society chose to display Learned's art because it wanted to bring more cross-cultural awareness, as well as support a local artist, and since Lam said she met Learned last year at the Red Earth Festival, it was an obvious match.
"I think he has a point to make," Lam said. "I think it's great to learn about the culture, and being in the dome even adds more to it."
The exhibit is free to the public and will be on display until the end of the month. For more information, call 602-5697. "?CJ Macklin
