Pizza pyre

“The goal is four to six months,” said Hideaway spokesperson Janie Harris. “The adjustors have been in, so we can begin the cleanup, but we’re still waiting to hear from the structural engineers about how much will have to be rebuilt.”

Nothing can be salvaged of the kitchen. The early morning fire, which was started by an electrical short, began between the ceiling and roof in the kitchen. Harris said it smoldered for several hours before it became severe enough to trigger the alarm.

The entire building is damaged with soot and smoke, including some of the original art.

Staff at the location has been reassigned to other Hideaway stores until rebuilding is complete. Harris said that the company wanted to provide for its employees as much as possible; one local bank has offered to set up a fund for the restaurant workers.

“We’ve been very appreciative of the outpouring of support from the community,” Harris said. “Our social-networking sites were filled with messages of support. (Nearby restaurants) West and Iguana offered to feed people, store food or do whatever they could to help. We’re very grateful for all the support.”
