It's not often that something as small as eating out can help save someone's life. This Tuesday, getting a burger at Shorty Small's will help Cody Sheets get a double lung transplant.

The restaurant, 4500 W. Reno, will hold a fundraiser from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, for Sheets. The 23-year-old Yukon man's lifelong cystic fibrosis has deteriorated in the past year, requiring several lengthy hospital stays and now a $650,000 double lung transplant.

For financial assistance, Sheets has turned to the Memphis, Tenn.'s National Foundation for Transplants, a nonprofit that helps patients raise funds for such procedures. Shorty Small's will donate 10 percent of sales from the event to NFT in honor of Sheets. The event will also include a garage sale and drawings for many items, including a handmade quilt.

For more information, contact Kathi Huggard at 405-728-9200 or kathi@shortysmalls.com.

To make a tax-deductible donation in honor of Sheets, please send a contribution (with "in honor of Cody Sheets" on the memo line) to the NFT Oklahoma Lung Fund, 5350 Poplar Ave., Suite 430, Memphis, TN 38119, or visit www.transplants.org.
