Review: 'Cats' beats a cat nap

Instead of cat napping this weekend, head downtown and check out a Tony Award-winning musical at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City and watch the claws come out.

The larger than life musical "Cats," based on T.S. Elliot's book "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, is the longest running musical here in the United States and in the United Kingdom.
The performance Friday night was definitely worth meowing to all your friends about.
Cat-actors roamed the audience hissing at eachother while pawing and purring at audience members. Then the lights cut out and all you could see were the cat's glowing eyes and hear them scampering on stage.

The musical is a perfect stage act for children, and many attended Friday's show, arriving early to have their face painted to look cat-like.

The special effects, smoke, lights, costuming and makeup really make you feel like you are part of the junkyard where the cats gather.

Tickets are as cheap as $14 and can be purchased by calling 297-2264
