More than 35 speakers from across the nation are scheduled to present at the second annual Oklahoma Biofuels Conference, to be held Oct. 16-17 at The Sheraton, 1 N. Broadway.
Among the topics to be discussed include:
" the $40 million research and development initiative for the Oklahoma Bioenergy Center,
" an update on new farm and energy bills in Washington, D.C.,
" biofuel feedstock developments and
" water supply management.
BENEFITS
Gov. Brad Henry said Oklahoma is well-positioned to become a player in the biorefinery sector because of the state's:
" plentiful native grasses,
" operating petroleum refineries, and
" significant research commitments to biofuel feedstocks.
"For reasons of national security, economic well-being, protection of our environment and concern for our finite oil and gas resources, our nation has embarked on a policy to develop alternative transportation fuels and free ourselves from dependence on imported foreign oil," he said in a press release.
Speakers will include James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, and John E. Ferrell from the U.S. Department of Energy.
