Singer plans entertaining visit to Norman Public Library

A surefire way to beat boredom this spring break: Head to Norman Public Library, 225 N. Webster, for a 2 p.m. Friday performance by a favorite children's singer/songwriter.

Stillwater local Monty Harper will entertain kids ages 4-12 with wacky, silly songs that involve and encourage youthful imaginations.

"He is just a marvelous entertainer who really is creative," said Basha Hartley, Children's Services library manager. "He really appreciates children and the way they think."

TRAVELING PERFORMER
Harper has been performing children's songs since 1989 and soon after, gave up the idea of becoming a math teacher to start his own children's music business. He performs at elementary schools, libraries and festivals around the Midwest, and uses his songs to challenge kids to focus, participate, read and think creatively.

The musician has also won many awards for his songs and recordings, from Parents' Choice, iParenting Media, Kids Radio Mania and more.

"He's a really imaginative man and the children really just love his songs. He's one of Oklahoma's stars for kids," Hartley said.

Admission is free. For more information, call 701-2630.
