Located in Edmond right
near Interstate 35 and Second Street, owners Chef Mitch Voigt and Melody
Pittman opened their restaurant about three months ago. The chef
studied at an accredited Le Cordon Bleu school in Alabama and shows off
fine Southern and gourmet cooking. The menu shines with good soups,
crisp salads, sandwiches, pizza and, of course, all-American burgers.

Bill’s Island Grill

Owner Cliff Childs moved
his 30-year-old Bill’s Restaurant out of Norman because of rent increases
and will now focus on island cuisine at his new spot on S.W. 89th
Street, just west of Western Avenue. Many of his well-trained staff came
along. The Island Ranch Bacon Burger is a flavorful combination, along
with fish tacos, calamari and Island Club sandwiches. Major desserts are
its attractive Key lime pie cheesecake and its triple chocolate cake.

Crescent Market closed and the comfort soups by Terry Sinclair are gone. However, Sinclair opened her own place where not only soup is available, but salads, desserts, trail mix, salsa and more. Also, find her soups at Bill Kamp’s and Whole Foods. Her Soup Soup shop is open Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Juan Del Fuego

more than 17 years, Juan Herrera was the chef at The Diner. His wife,
Elayne Herrera, was there for five years, as well. Both now own and
operate Juan Del Fuego, which has been open only a month in Redbud
Plaza. Fuego serves breakfast and lunch, and the authentic Mexican
cuisine is receiving good feedback.

Who’s Your Buddy Cafe

Your Buddy opened on Sept. 30 with seating for more than 100 hungry
diners. The cafe presents a lineup of well-liked breakfast foods and
lunch, plus four Korean plates such as spare ribs and chicken. On
11-11-11, the cooks featured all-you-could-eat catfish, plus presented
an Elvis impersonator, too. Hours are 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through

next door to RedPin, the burgers are the best. Discover fine quality
NoName Ranch natural beef, with buns baked by Prairie Thunder Baking Co.
The fried dill pickle chips are handcoated with a panko and Parmesan
breading. Owners Erin and Shawn Brewer are featuring a Whoopie Pie from
Shawn’s grandmother, Gram T., who hails from the woods of Maine.

Old School Bagel Cafe

on the well-traveled intersection of 33rd and Broadway in Edmond, owner
Mike Leal opened this Old School Bagel Cafe just a few weeks ago.
Happily, we already know that Old School Bagel’s food is good, but this
location is also serving salads (chef, cobb, Boston and an Asian
variety). Try its homemade cookies for a nice dessert to finish.
