The son of convicted bombing co-conspirator Terry Nichols allegedly got a little closer in spirit to his father recently. He was jailed in Las Vegas over a stolen motorcycle, according to newspaper accounts.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Joshua Isaac Nichols, 26, appeared in Las Vegas before Justice of the Peace Abbi Silver, who set a preliminary hearing for Dec. 1 on felony vehicle theft and possession of stolen property charges. Silver reportedly refused to lessen the $3,200 bail set for Nichols, who was locked up at the Clark County jail.

The story said police arrested Josh after an investigation team spotted him in possession of a stolen 2008 Yamaha motorcycle, which he'd retrieved from a garage.

"You love your children unconditionally, no matter what," Josh's mother, Lana Padilla, told the newspaper after watching her son appear in shackles before the justice. "I'm not the only mother that has a son who's involved in drugs "¦ My son needs help."

Padilla, a Las Vegas real estate and insurance businesswoman, and the ex-wife of bombing co-conspirator Nichols, lamented that her son's case has media attention, referring to "sins of the father."

What sins would those be? Terry Nichols was convicted of conspiracy in the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City, along with former U.S. Army buddy Timothy McVeigh. Nichols now sits in a maximum security federal prison in Florence, Colo., serving a life sentence for aiding McVeigh.
