The Tishomingo resident has traditionally fared well in the CMAs, vying for a fifth straight Female Vocalist of the Year award. Lambert has yet to attain the prestigious Entertainer of the Year prize, though she is nominated in that category as well.

Her competition for the top honor?

Defending champ Luke Bryan, George Strait … and hubby Blake Shelton.

Think there’s some trash talk going on down in Tishomingo?

But Oklahoma’s first couple won’t be the only Sooner
state representatives; Checotah-raised Carrie Underwood and
Nashville-byway-of-Miami (Miami, Okla., that nominated — Underwood for
Female is) duo Thompson Square were also nominated — Underwood for
Female Vocalist of the Year and Thompson Square defending its Vocal Duo
of the Year crown.

Oklahoma City-grown Vince
Gill is nominated with Kelly Clarkson for Vocal Event of the Year,
facing off against Sooner State cohorts Blake Shelton (with the Pistol
Annies) and Miranda Lambert (with Keith Urban).

So
many Okies. But we aren’t surprised; if there’s one thing we know here,
it’s country music. Well, football too. And noodling. Country music,
football and noodling.
